Theme 2: Jesus and Thanksgiving

We have one more week of the Trinity left and then onto Jesus!  The next few chapters in our books focus on Jesus Christ with the subject varying depending on grade level.  His life, death, teachings, and miraculous works are all mentioned in the chapters, but there are also some great ideas out there for how to encourage your class to think and learn more about who Jesus is, and what his role is in our modern lives.

In addition to what you'll find here, we always have a great selection of story books, games, and digital media available in our resource room. Stop by when Cathy or myself are in the office and we can help you plan a lesson!

Thanksgiving
Check out all the crafts we have for the season of giving thanks!

Posters and Prayer!
Grades 1 and 2
Hail Mary, Our Father, 10 commandments
Grades 3 and 4
Beatitudes, The 10 Commandments, The Holy Mass, prayer wheels
Grades 5 and 6
Prayer cards, Paschal mystery, Nicene Creed, prayer wheels

Crafts
Work with some of the older kids to make their own Crucifix (with the Our Father on the back)!  And then use the Action Bible to read with the kids a few stories from his life.
- A fun game using a few bibles is giving them a passage then in groups/teams they have to find it.  Whoever gets it first, wins a prize!

Please note: We have several more Jesus crafts in the resource room for several grades but haven't been able to put the samples up yet.

The Mass / The Liturgical Year / DVDs
Grades 1 and 2
The Mass kit is a great introduction to the Eucharist, as well as the celebration of the liturgy.
Use the "Forgiven!" video to learn what Jesus' sacrifice means in our lives!
Grades 3-6
 - The mass books are a great way to get familiar with the elements of mass, and what each part means.

We have a bunch of lesson plan sheets that you can grab to help you stay on track while you're teaching!

Brother Francis (and others) streaming service!

We just purchased a limited subscription with Formed.org which is a streaming service of Religious Education for all ages! Seeing that many computers nowadays don't have disc drives, many teachers have asked to use their iPads for class and this solves that problem. We purchased it with Brother Francis in mind but there are videos for all grades if you're looking for something to tie into you lessons.
